Do you know the history of your favorite toys? You might be surprised at some of the historical links that you find. Some of the most iconic symbols of BDSM come from some very interesting places.
Take the St Andrew’s cross for example.
It has been said that the very existence of this iconic piece of joy and bondage was in fact created at the request of St Andrew himself while awaiting crucifixion by the Romans in the year 69 AD. It was said that because he did not feel worthy to be crucified on the same style of cross that Jesus was, he therefore steadfastly demanded another type of cross be used.
St Andrew went on to become the Patron saint of Scotland and the cross given his name for all time is still used today ( though not for its original purpose). Over time it became a symbol of both Heretics and religious leaders. It can still be seen still today in many forms. The original flag of Scotland is the St Andrews cross and it can also be seen as the two crossing keys of the Papal flag today.
St Andrews cross today.
Whether you have a spanking fetish, or enjoy bondage, the St Andrews cross is well known for taking your breath away at just the sight of it. I have been told by many submissives that it invokes very erotic feelings in them not only from the sight of it, but the mindset that is creates within them.
What do you feel when see one? Does it conjure images of pleasure and exquisite pain? Do you feel unworthy as your eyes flit from the floor to the cross and back again? Does your skin tingle in anticipation; does your mind drift off toward sub-space? I would love to hear about your experiences with this iconic symbol of joy and torture. What erotic fantasies have you had about it? Please leave me a comment and tell me all about it!
