Sweetest Day involves giving small presents such as greeting cards, candy, and flowers to loved ones. While it is not as large or widely observed as Valentine’s Day, it is still celebrated in parts of the United States, despite persistent allegations of being a “Hallmark holiday.”

In high school, we always celebrated Sweetest Day the Friday before with a few silly traditions.  The boys would buy flowers, helium balloons, teddy bears, and candy for us girls (as you can probably imagine, my group of friends and I always went home with more roses and balloons than we could carry).  In exchange, I’d buy my boyfriends sweaters, cologne, or other “boyish” things, and even gave my worn panties to a few special guys.
