But even with this imagery of the “cougar” let me attempt another journey into this exploration traversing through the conceptual landscape of the “cougar”. Hmm let me put it in a natural way. Let us apply the Colorado River system in the Grand Canyon as a natural allegory here.

OK You have the Colorado River system through the Grand canyon. No pun here for “grand canyon”, seriously. In some areas the river runs smooth, it weaves and winds its way at a leisurely pace though the sculpted canyon walls.

It is slower, more seductive, one needs to take their time to explore and to be cognizant of the surroundings, to become aware of the river’s shifting currents to get acquainted with “her” ebb and flows of “her” body. The “greenhorn explorer”, or in this case the ‘virgin” has the time through proper guidance learns how to handle the “river”. Yes the pace can be slower and there might be more work involved, but the potential rewards are amplified through the journey of experiencing ambiance of the situation.

There is time to embrace what is around you in the spender and awe of your surroundings and what you are about to do. And in a pragmatic way it is easier, for the less experienced “virgin” rafter.

But there are also other spots in the river system where there are various degrees of Rapids, strong, powerful fierce, and yes dangerous. For the rapids are typically known as a “younger” part of a river system, be it the Colorado or any other river system.

To the less experienced, one can easily be overwhelmed by the untamed natural force of the wildness of the river when navigating though the rapids. There is none of the subtle nuances to be enjoyed portrayed from the winding portion of the river. This experience can be the ultimate exhilaration thrill ride as well.

There is where the lessons learned from exploring the more mature winding portion of the river can be applied to help guide the younger “tenderfoot” to navigate these waters. Yes it is amazing and incredible, but there is little time to think it is more physical reaction and reaction. Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes the instinctual primal feeling of passionate conquest, either by the river through “her” rapids or by the young adventurer is the ultimate frenzied rush. There is a sense of extreme tumultuous gratification when completing this more quicker, faster and more explosive adventure. But it also can be over too quick as well, that will leave the individual exhausted.

Whereas on the other hand, with the winding atmosphere of the mature river, one can go much longer, for they can adjust and listen to the river flow, and feel her move with sensual grace, there is time to enjoy the sumptuous bounty of what this part of the river has to offer, and yes then she can also guide to the rapids when she feels the beginner is ready, for then the beginner will no longer be a virgin and both he and the river will enjoy the exhilaration much more towards gratification for he took the time to listen and to learn.
